Research and provide warmth, accurately empower the development of 'core'
On September 26th, a delegation from the Chongqing Development and Reform Commission visited Chongqing Jingfan Photonics Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Jingfan Photonics") to conduct research and guidance work. The research team went deep into the production line and R&D center to observe the progress of industrialization of LCOS optical valve chips, and had in-depth exchanges with Chairman Li Kun on topics such as technological breakthroughs, capacity improvement, and industrial chain construction, injecting new development momentum into this high-tech enterprise deeply rooted in the semiconductor field.

Going deep into the front line: witnessing the hardcore strength of "Jiangjin made" chips
In the 11000 square meter dust-free packaging and testing production workshop of Jingfan Photonics, automated equipment is accurately completing key processes such as chip packaging and optical calibration, creating a busy scene on site.
After the production line is officially put into operation in November 2024, the annual production capacity can reach up to 5 million pieces. The company's core product is the 0.78-inch single-chip true pixel 4K LCOS chip. This chip has an ultra-high resolution of 8.85 million pixels, wide amplitude modulation characteristics, and is compatible with multiple light sources. It has been widely used in popular fields such as portable projection, car HUD, AR wearables, etc. The research team affirmed the level of product localization, particularly focusing on the significant breakthroughs made by enterprises in key processes such as inorganic orientation films, as well as the intellectual property barriers constructed by dozens of patents.
The collaborative model of "Shenzhen R&D+Chongqing Manufacturing" (with Shenzhen Nanshan R&D headquarters focusing on core technology research and development, and Chongqing base undertaking the responsibility of mass production) has formed a complete process capability from chip design to optical matching, which is also a unique and complete industrial layout in China. The research team carefully inquired about the proportion of R&D investment and talent team building, and highly praised the company's persistence in deeply cultivating the LCOS field.

Targeted measures to solve difficult problems, jointly drawing the blueprint of the industry
Chairman Li Kun gave a detailed report on the current development status and challenges faced: the products have achieved domestic substitution in key areas, emphasizing that "LCOS light valve chips, as the core components of the optoelectronic industry, are an important cornerstone for cultivating new quality productivity". Based on Chongqing's industrial development plan, the research team proposes three guiding opinions:
Strengthen innovation leadership: Continuously focus on breakthroughs in bottleneck technologies, make good use of policies such as R&D expense deduction, and accelerate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements;
Strengthening industrial clusters: leveraging the advantages of "chain owner" enterprises, attracting upstream and downstream supporting enterprises to gather, and building a complete industrial chain of "design testing application";
Jingfan Photonics cannot do without the precise services provided by the government from the start of construction to the start of production. Chairman Li Kun stated that the policy interpretation and resource docking brought about by this survey have further strengthened the company's confidence in deeply cultivating Chongqing. In the future, it will accelerate the release of 4K chip production capacity and explore new tracks such as in vehicle displays and machine vision.

Government and enterprises work together to build a new height in the optoelectronic industry
This survey is a vivid practice of Chongqing Development and Reform Commission's practice of "forward service and precise empowerment". The research team pointed out that the development of Jingfan Photonics is in line with Chongqing's digital economy and advanced manufacturing industry layout. The government will continue to optimize the business environment and help enterprises become the leading force in the domestic LCOS field through policy guidance, financial support, platform construction, and other means.
Looking towards the future, Jingfan Photonics will take this research as an opportunity to accelerate technological innovation and capacity expansion, and is expected to drive the formation of a billion dollar optoelectronic industry cluster within three years, contributing "chip" strength to Chongqing's efforts to build a new highland in the semiconductor industry. The strong synergy between government and enterprises is making the blueprint for "independent chip creation" increasingly clear.
